The Dark Hedges: Stranocum, Co. Antrim

The Dark Hedges is a fantastic avenue of beech trees that looks like an impressionist painting by Van Gogh. Well over 200 years old, the trees twist into incredible shapes, forming a tunnel leading to Gracehill Golf Club in Northern Ireland. Hidden away deep in the countryside of County Antrim, legend says the spectacular avenue of trees is haunted by a “gray lady”. © 2012 Michele Erdvig

Editor’s Note: The Dark Hedges have gained special notice recently as a filming location in the HBO television series Game of Thrones. – CT
