Brandon Point, Mountain, and Village: Brandon, Co Kerry

by | Feb 25, 2013 | Kerry, Memorable Experiences, Religious Sites, Scenic Spots

Brandon is a much-bypassed area of the Dingle Peninsula, north of Dingle via the Conor Pass. Continue along the road to the sleepy, charming village. Check out the lovely beach and wild Atlantic waters. Drive farther and get up to Brandon Point, a fantastic view of the ocean from an observation deck. This is also a great spot for bird-watching, and the carpark is right at the deck, no additional walking needed.

Mount Brandon itself is the highest peak outside the Macgillycuddy Reeks, and takes its name from Saint Brendan, who supposedly left from here. There is a pilgramage path up the mountain.

There is a fort, stone circles, and a model village in this area, as well. You will not be spoilt for choice!
