Treasure Hunting at the Kilkenny Car Boot Sale: Brownstown, Co Kilkenny

There’s a little bit of everything at this large car boot sale just outside of Kilkenny city (FYI – car boot in Ireland refers to the trunk of the car and a boot sale would be known in the US as a flea market)… clothes, antiques, housewares, tools, live chickens, meats, candy, and even “40 rolls of Irish toilet paper for €10!”

There are both indoor and outdoor stalls, so it’s an all-weather experience each Sunday. No one would commit to telling me definite hours, but you’re guaranteed shopping between 9am and 1pm. There’s a cafe serving full breakfast and snacks and patrons are required to pay €3 to park.

Oh don’t you just love it?! Forget the cheap trinkets at places like Carrolls…this is the kind of place to get something unusual and memorable to take home from Ireland. Although, I don’t think I could get 40 rolls of TP, or a chicken, for that matter, in my 22″ carry-on…LOL!

Corey…is this particular boot sale a year-round thing, or just there for the summer months

Now, TP would make lovely souvenirs for the whole family 🙂

As far as I know, the Boot Sale is on rain or shine all year round.
